Thanks for taking a few minutes to read this . . .
SeaCaves instructions:
1. Make a copy of your Glider PRO v1.1.0 application and run the Glider SC patch on it.
2. If the patch is successful, trash the Glider PRO copy and put the newly created Glider SC application in the same folder with the SeaCaves house. Store this folder somewhere apart from your other Glider PRO stuff.
3. (optional) In order for Glider SC's custom icon to appear you will have to open Glider SC with ResEdit, pull down the File menu, select "Get Info for Glider SC" and check the checkbox for "Show Custom Icon", then reboot.
4. Drag the SeaCaves icon onto the Glider SC icon to launch the game.
5. Set preferences for 9 room view, music on during play, sound level about 2.
6. Ready to start playing!
Playing the game:
If you are an experienced Glider PRO player, you probably won't need any clues about what to do or what to look for. Just use your instincts. If you reach a point where your frustration level begins to exceed the entertainment value, feel free to consult the enclosed "cheat book". Just remember, SeaCaves is a tough house! It has many secrets and surprises, and part of the fun is discovering these on your own. SeaCaves was a long time in the making, so take your time with it and savor the experience. After you complete SeaCaves, you may want to check out the cheat book for descriptions of some of the mechanics of the game. Maybe you'll want to use some of these ideas in your own houses!
A few precautions:
• You may notice that with two different G-PRO apps on your hard drive, double clicking on a particular house icon to begin play may launch the wrong game version. Needless to say, Glider SC will not be suitable for playing other houses, and SeaCaves will look pretty ridiculous if opened in Glider PRO.
• One of my beta testers reported a problem with disappearing high scores for SeaCaves - a bug which I was not able to verify or track down. If it happens to you, I guess you'll have to write down your high scores by hand or just not worry about it.
• I have included appropriate new PICTs for two player games, but this play mode has not been thoroughly tested. Try it out if you want and let me know if it plays satisfactorily.
Have fun . . . . . . . . . Ward Hartenstein (WardHarten@aol.com)
